There’s a saying in Kentucky that goes, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute.” Even as we head into October, the average temperature in central Kentucky is around 85 degrees. It may be time for Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but don’t let that fool you – it can still be scorching. With that in mind, we want you to be prepared for jumping during hot weather.
Of course, you need to stay hydrated. Skydiving is a very physical activity so drink plenty of water. Higher temperatures also impact your parachute and the airplane. Due to higher density altitude your parachute will descend more quickly. When it’s extremely hot, you should avoid big maneuvers. As for the airplane, be aware that high temps will cause the climb rates to be slower. As with any jump, you should always be patient and aware of your surroundings.
