Safety is a priority for us at Skydive Kentucky. We highly value fun and safety so our staff spends time training and teaching
you about our equipment and skydiving. So we are proud to join with USPA in the Make-A-Save campaign. According to USPA, “Simple gear checks could have prevented as many as 20 skydiving fatalities since 1999.” No matter your level of experience, we should all redouble our efforts in checking our own and other’s gear on every jump.
By emphasizing the need for gear checks, we could prevent unnecessary accidents and we will be saving lives.
If you have stories, pictures or videos of gear saves send them to USPA by emailing safety@uspa.org. Skydive Kentucky’s first rule is “Have Fun!” Staying safe during our jumps is one of the ways we have fun!

There’s a saying in Kentucky that goes, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute.” Even as we head into October, the average temperature in central Kentucky is around 85 degrees. It may be time for Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but don’t let that fool you – it can still be scorching. With that in mind, we want you to be prepared for jumping during hot weather.
Tandem Skydiving is a popular option for first time jumpers because it offers an introduction to the sport while you are harnessed safely with a trained instructor. After 30 seconds of free-fall you get to pull the ripcord to release the parachute (of course, your instructor will be there to back you up).
